FAQ1. How long will it take to learn to drive? 1a. The official DSA answer is between 40 and 60 hours of professional tuition. From experience few people pass in less than 40 hours, unless they practise in their own car in addition to their lessons. Age and ability also determine how quickly you will learn. You are required to read the number plate on a car from 20.5 metres. If you have any doubt visit an optician before you start driving. (Back to top) 3a. At the moment it is not compulsory, but it would be very difficult to pass your driving test without the knowledge of an instructor.
